don't stereotype all newschool skiers, im sure a lot of ppl do well at school and go to college because there are lots of posts made about post secondary education.

dont you need a legit reason to drop out from school, like the public schools can take you to court for not goin and stuff if you dont have a legit reason because they dont want you to a weight on the states welfare system. Then they like make you goto military school or sumthin if you lose

if your under 16 you cant drop out without legal trouble, if you are under 18 you need a parent signature, over 18 doesnt fucking matter, thats what it is in NY i have no idea if its different anywhere else.

i'm a high school drop out.

and it's anyone's opinion as to whether dropping out is a good idea or not.

but dropping out doesn't make you a bad student. when i was in school i ranked in the top five of my class, my SAT scores scored me a merit scholarship, i got into a lot of good schools, i was 2nd term class president, a NHS inductee, 3rd term president of the arts academy, captain of the soccer and ultimate frisbee teams, topping states and JO's in racing... and all sorts of other shit.

i dropped out for a lot of reasons. and one of them was because i loathe the public school system and would rather give up all the time i had spent there to drop out than spend another day listening to their bullshit. because to me a diploma is a piece of paper, a piece of paper that doesn't mean very much to me coming from the school i went to where anyone with a few brain cells left could pass along or sneak by in the loops on the shitty public school system.

I got my GED, and I'm still going to college.

^^It is a good point. i totally agree. public school systems are lacking in many ways.. i learn more on my own out of pure life experience than in a classroom. i barely do anything and pass my classes with a's and b's. anyone can get a diploma. dropping out does not make you an idiot in contrary to this popular belief. intelligence is not measured on a stupid peice of paper with a buntch of meaningless signatures. hell, i have thought about dropping out many of times because school is dull and it is just another system in which i am a subject to. but i decided not, and so now i am going to switzerland for my senior year to get away from this redundance and maybe do some sweet skiing and learn a new language.

i dont know why anyone would drop out of high school. i had fun in high school, and its pretty damn easy to make A's and B's. People that say high school is "bullshit" are punk bitches I think. If you cant handle authority in high school how are you going to handle having a boss or someone else later in life. I think its a personality flat if you cant handle high school because that shit is easy, and fun.

man, dropping out is probably not the best idea but i'm not gonna hold it against you. For me, i've got constant pressure from my family to do well and so dropping out of high school would def not be an option. i'm expected to go on to university and to probably even get a graduate degree somewhere.

anyways, school ain't really that bad. sure, there's lotsa work but deal with it cause if you don't do the stupid stuff in high school, you'll probably end up doing something crappy for the rest of your life.

I don't wanna sound like your parents but seriously, think about what you're doing when you don't get even the most basic education. We live in a world where more and more people are getting university degrees. If you've got nothing to show, chances are you'll have a crap job for the rest of your life.

Spend the extra years working towards something. It's gonna pay off in the end.
