that sucks man..I was up there yesterday and thought ide be wearing a sweatshirt the whole day but with the wind picking up it got way colder and hard to get speed with the snow slow...I hope the chairs open back up for you guys...
^^ dude you on a tall mountail that is very exposed...what did u expect...mammoth aint hood...the reason the snow stays so long is that it is usually cold and windy...
i have been there every weekend since april and only a few times was it warm enough to hoody it...
as for hiking...NO mountain that is open would let you hike their park!!! Not one...the lift ticket is essentially their sign off for liablility if kids are poaching and get hurt it opens the mountain up for law suits
As you drive up to the west lodge there are several rails lying down just off the street to your right. Those can be your best bet for a quicky session....BTW...it is a large hike to get to the upper park and if the lifts are closed you will be turned around quicker than a vietnamese hooker
i foyu ve been their you know ho w impossible hiking it sounds...its rediculously large...mammoth in fact
"BASE jumping is the best sport ever evented. Everyone should go out and order "BAse Jumping Baffin Islands" with Shane and Miles. Rails on skies look like roller blading. It's fucking gay and you wanting to watch hours of that shit makes you fucking gay. It's like comparing figure skating to hockey. SOunds like we a a lot of figure skaters on this site."-sno-man
so, we ended up hiking up to the lower park, the one by chair 1. it took a really long time, it was windy and cold, then there was only 1 railish thing set up. it was impossible to get up to the top of chair 3, there were winds at like 80mph....so here I am sitting in a condo in Mammoth with nothing to do. hopefully tomorrow will be nicer.
ill be super rich and own mt.hood and let everybody from ns ski for free... except freezed
i hiked about 3/4 of the way up to this box on the main unboud park and hit it 5 times then realized that the wind+newsnow=unhittble and unjudgable. hopefully tommorow it will be sicker and all those rails along the side dont really look hittable or able to be set up
shit man that sucks. when i first got there a couple months ago, it was snowing and blowing hard, but then it cleared up, well at least at south park, so it was a great day. hopefully the weather will fair better for you tomorrow up there man
