i am taking a photo class next year and i was wondering what would be a cheap 35mm camera that is decent enough to work and take good pics

look for an old completely manual 35mm. you'll learn a lot more about takin' pictures with one of those.

i've got a mintola sts-101 that i'm pretty happy with, but i've heard of a lot of people using pentaxs and canons.

sorry, i'm not really knowledgeable in this area. i just know that an older one's the way to go.

good student cameras:
canon ae-1
pentex k1000

get eather with a 50mm f1.8 lens and u will learn a lot. it seems like the canon 50mm f1.8 is a sharper lens then the pentex lens...

get a full manual camera. canon AE-1 is a good choice but isnt the cheepest. go to bhphotovideo.com and look around.

thanx i think i am getting an old pentax ME Super that comes with wide angle lense telephoto lense zoom lense a kaliedascope lense thing some faders and a bunch of other things for not that much

i have a canon rebel t2 (the one with the steel lens mount as opposed to the crappy plastic one...) and it has perfect auto-focusing with the ability to go full manual, as well. i think it was around $300 new. came with a 28-90mm lens.

Pentax k-1000s are a dime a dozen for a decent one, but take your time and find one that is in perfect condition.

Canon AE-1 is also pretty common.
Check out ebay, they usually have alot of stuff up on there.
They usually come with tons of accessories too, like cases, lenses, filters and all that yazz.

look for a canon a-2 on ebay. you should be able to find one fro around $200. 3.5 and 5 FPS, shutter up to 1/8000 and some other shit. ive taken all my slides on this cam and it rocks

why would you wanna get an ae-1? doesn't that camera do the exposure for you? i'm probably wrong, but one of my buddies who has one told me it did.

i think the ae-1 is fully manual, but the ae-1 program has manual, shutter priortiy,apiture priority, and an auto seting.
