running is not a sport. like all other means of transportation such as biking, swimming, walking and racing cars, it is not a sport. my friends and i have determined that it is 1/3 of a sport. this is becuase its a component of most sports but its the easiest half. swimming is not a sport becuase u do it to stay alive. biking is only a sport when lance armstrong is in the race. racing cars, nascar? cmon. ok now im just rambling

apparently all but 1 kid in the freshman gym class COULD NOT RUN 2 MILES IN 20 MINUTES...ugh

i believe running is a sport because a senoir from my high school was granted on a full atheletic scholarship to the University of Vermont ALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL because he runs... and is good at it.. so apparently it is a sport because it is considered a sport at Devision 1 colleges like the UVM.....

I didn't read any posts from this thread.....i just got back from a 15 mile run....fuck you people who think running is not a sport....I believe running is the GREATEST team sports.
There are teammates who i look up to, teammates who pull me along mentally and physically when im feeling like shit on a run, teammates who I pace off of in a race, teammates who I train with every day.
The thing most people tend to do which is horrible, is go on with life without making time to go out for a run during the day. Always run with the fear that you could get out of shape.

yeah tennis is pretty balsy on your clay courts. you dont fall down. just run back on forth and scream sexual noises. no one has puked at a tennis tournment because of exhaustion. no one cried. im not going to complelely kncok tennis, because my dad does it. but overall your're built skinner than i am. and you have no balls.

Pete Sampras, US Open 98, he was puking his guts out in the corner. oh by the way how long does a marathon take for a fast runner 2-3 hrs? tennis matches go 4+ on a regular basis. And i bet you've never gotten a cramp so bad your coach has to peal your hand off the raquet.

How can you say running is not a sport. It takes so much skill to be good at sprinting and at long distances, you actually need to train all the time to be good at running, it's a hard sport. I would like to see you run 2 miles or run the 400m dash and then you can tell me running isnt a sport.

only difference is....tennis has breaks... there are nooooo breaks in a marathon... non stop running... lol in tenning u get to stop.. sit down... grab a drink... talk to your buds.. watch another game.. and then continue to play....

no but people run so long for so hard they lose all body control and bowel control. and the fact you remember a certain match with puking in it from 7 years ago shows that your not worth argueing with. its a fucking sport. most people agree. to say "its like walking or driving, not a sport, transportation" sounds like something you ripped off of a stand up act.
