What EP/LP stand for?

I've been wondering this for a while, i've seen them on albums like "The Marshall Mathers LP"

rossi00 is right, but that only refers to vinyl records. when records were the only form of music reproduction, an LP was what we now refer to as a "full-length album." LP's were 10 tracks or so, where as EP's were say, 4 or 5 (see aesop rock's daylight EP).

no extended and long would be the same, i know extended play is the EP and LP stands for something different i just can't remember it but it doesn't have as long of record time as EP.

EP is to describe a CD with a small amount of songs in it (About 5)...

where LP is a CD with many more songs (10/12ish)

yeah but now EPs tend to be CDs with like 2-6 songs,

and also, if you're talking about DJ records nowadays, an EP is a 2-piece vinyl with one track on each side (4 total), and an LP is usually four or more pieces of vinyl

not all the time.

singles tend to be 3 tracks of one song on each side of the vinyl, usually dirty, clean, and instrumental.

break records are all over the place and can have a ton of tracks (I've seen 72 on a sound record) or a normal amount (5ish).

LP's usually have 4 on each side and most come on 2 records. Older vinyl usually stacks up more tracks on one side.
