i was thinkin' about gettin new 1080's, but i dont really know shit about this 'spaceframe technology'....is it a soft ski? cuz ive heard people say the pocket rockets were soft....anybody that knows anything fell free to clue me in. overall is it a good east coast ski or what?
i tried them this summer. didnt seem that soft, stiffer then my old ten80s

space frame is just to put stiffer material so you can take off stuff on side of the ski,so its lighter but stiff enough!
they would probably be a good east coast ski. but I'm just throwing that out into the air
helmets will not save you from smacked bottoms or stupidity!
pocket rockets are seriously sweet ass skis...everyone that has tried them cant argue with that. everyone that hasnt tried them will just say they suck and are wet noodle...man they have no idea. pocket rockets are an untapped resource.
The pocket rockets are good skis but I wouldn't reccomend them for the east coast. My brother rode for a week last year and he kept complaining how much they sucked on hard park, ice. He said they were a 'wet noodle'! He said they were great in pow and park but sucked on anything remotly hard or icy.
i beg to differ...even on hard pack they are totally sweet. and what ski is really good on ice? i've skied ice with them before and they arent great, but they are no worse than any other ski...they can still hold a edge np. they are even great in the moguls.
Well, arguing is pointless and if you think they are awesome on hardpack and ice, good for you. I am just telling jsof9 what I know about the ski.
i ride in Quebec(yeah, quebec, aka ICE kingdom) and i ride more on my pocket than on my regular 1080 actually!
hence your name..lol jk from all I've heard of them they are great..

The spaceframe technology should actually help the 1080's on hardpack and ice. The old ones were just basic cap construction skiis with foam core, which caused them to suck at holding an edge. With the new spaceframe, salomon is still using cap construction, which means the core really doesnt matter, but they reinforced the construction mid ski and took material out of the tip and tail where you really dont need it. The result is a lighter swing weight (easier to spin) and better flex pattern (easier to carve). I have never ridden them, but most people say that they are noticeable better.
Markers don't suck!
Damn straight, things are happenin' in the midwest!
Yeah they are way better than last years, alot more stable
the frames aren't really from space!!

damn it, now I have to return them!!!! The guy at the shop guaranteed that my new 1080s had spent at least 12 earth hours in space.
No Mr.Porcupine, I don't wanna see your weiner
how are this years 1080s? how are they in the park and all mountain?
'you ski? oh wow no one skis anymore.'- my cousin's friend
i dont know about the 1080s but the prockets are damn nice
Team Sofa King Amazing
Being Irish, I guess I should resent the Notre Dame nickname 'The Fighting Irish.' After all, how long do you think nicknames like 'The Bargaining Jews' or 'The Murdering Italians' would last? Only the Ironic Irish could be so naively honset. I get the feeling that Notre Dame came real close to naming itself 'The Fuckin Drunken, Thick-Skulled, Brawling, Short-Dicked Irish'
the foam is sketchy, and I have cut open a old 1080 from a year before the blue ones, and the foam core just crumbled out. The skis were over skied yes, but that was just fucked. haven't seen any other ones in the shop other than for the rubber tip falling off and they took that off this year. they are wider and the spaceframe does do em good. I personally don't like the spaceframe, but I don't wanna be an astronaut, but yep the pocketrocket and the ten80 are really good skis. esp. the pocket rocket. they are one of the best fat skis out. and if it means anything I hated salomon for years then I tried this and it changed my mind.
I heard the PRs were really shitty in the pipe.

nah...the prockets are fine in the pipe once you get used to them. they can bust as much as any pair of skis in the halfpipe.
