When to step down...

issue of the year for me, when do you call a day quits, I can think of at least three or four days where I kept on going after I was pretty hurt (bruised/cracked ribs, thumbs, split lips, pulled groin), and I paid the price most of those ones afterwards...

worst was ribs on 270ing into a flat rail, which I had been stomping the hell out of for a morning. then proceeded to biff chest first, and get up only to self-destruct to near nutting, that ended my day.

but when do you back down from a trick you know you can do? or when do you stop for a day just to avoid hurting yourself...

you stop when you know that you're not feeling it, or when you know that your body wont be able to take much more if you've already hurt it. no use pushing things too far. better off just missing the rest of the day, or a couple days than fucking yourself and missing the season, or potentially seriously hurting yoruself

there was a rial jam yesterday that i did and i did it with a cracked growth plate in my heel which i cracked again 2 weeks before the jam. and in the beginning of the session i like pulled out my hip...but i kept skiing

yeah I'm stopping when I'M tired, if you're killing yourself doesn't mean that you have to stop.
you need to stop when youre body is too tired to accomplish the desire trick not when you are not landing it.

I don't usually quit early, but when I do it's becaus I'm not feeling good about the tricks I'm doing.... like I'm not landing anything because I'm just getting lazy.

Oh, and I've never really ended my day just because of an injury. I mean, I haven't had any serious ones, just like bumps to the head, sore thumbs, shin splints, bruises.... etc.
But I imagine that if I had a really bad injury where I actually couldn't keep skiing, I'd probably have to stop..

I've had quite a few injuries doing my "last" run of the day. Just like last weekend, I twisted my knee more than I is supposed to twist... Still walking funny.

When you decide you're going for your last run, just don't and consider the previous one your last. EXCEPT when it's the last run of the season, that it doesn't really matter if you get hurt!

after falling the whole day and not feeling it and then finally you have that fall that signififies that you are done. Then I either hopefully disregard that and keep trying and stomp it or be a puss and do some filiming.

i got a minor concusion the first run one day, proceeded to ski and i think i pulled my mcl that day, and kept skiing and the rest of the year i would tweak my knee everyweekend and keep skiing

Sometimes it's hard to know when you're done. Usually I feel good mentally and want to charge it, but my body just isn't responding the same. I often start letting my legs drop or land back-seat if I'm tired. That's how I know it's time for beer in the parking lot.
