on a race course that is solid ice and you are going at like 60mph, yes.

i detune my edges under foot so they are round and i have never had a problem on regular snow conditions.

this will sound dumb but how do you de-tune your edges? Do you just round them out?

Go to a ski shop and get something called a gummy stone. Looks like a little rectangular stone, but it's actually sorta spongy. Rub that on the part you want to detune until you can see the edge isn't sharp anymore. I'm sure there is something else you can use that might be lying around the house, but I don't know of any off hand.

gummy stones cost between 7 and 9 dollars and they are a good thing to buy, because it you slide rails and fall hard on one, you might bang your edge and make a bur or something which affects your skiing. I always carry a gummy stone on the hill, you may hit a rock and make some burs then its something you might need that'll make the rest of your day enjoyable.
