A week ago I sprained my ACL. I am already gaining mobility but I still cannot streighten or flex my leg. I figure I'm done for the season, but I'm wondering If i'll be ready for the bikeing season. Anyone have any expearence with an ACL sprain?
are you sure it is not torn...have it looked at by a doc, and have a custom brace made ASAP...if you start losing leg strength the brace wont be fitted correctly. I suggest going with the CTi...they are the best around (aint cheap so you better be insured)....
start rehabing now...the mobility will come back, but leg strength gets lost quick
I went through an acl/pcl/mcl injury two years ago...do it right and it wont botha you at all in a yeasr
^It probably is not torn if it still hurts. General tears hurt for an hour or so and then the pain goes away b/c the ligament is ripped in half and no longer strained. If you strained or sprained it, it hurts for weeks after b/c it is stretched so far, depending on the sprain, you may need surgery. I sprained mine and did the exercises the doc gave me and it healed quicker than expected. Don't cheat on the exercises either, they help.
Yeah dude probably just a 1st degree tear (strain) And that is bullshit a tear hurts for way more than an hour afterword, up to a few days. If it was swollen at all go to the doc and if u r having knee issues u should definetley consider a brace, if u tear ur acl u will regret not listening to me, trust me this shit sux, i am out for 9 months due to ACL reconstruction.
I tore mine completely and it hurt for like 4 months. Depends what else you might have hurt too... like meniscus, other ligaments, or bone contusions. Best to get it checked out right away, and maybe get a 2nd opinion. I saw 3 doctors before they figured it out and fixed me up. It's been 1 year and 3 weeks since I first tore mine, and exactly 2 weeks since surgery. Pretty shitty, but at least I was able to ski in between with a brace. Anyways, good luck and if you have any more questions let me know.
watch out I have BADD
definitly get a doc to look at it even two. i torn mine and the first doc i talked to said i would be fine in three weeks, three weeks later i could walk run jump spin all that. went to camp-o-champs, oops its not fine its totaly torn and i just ended up fucking it up even more.
My doc has looked at it once, told me to come back in 2 weeks(next monday). If i didn't have full mobility by then i may need orthoscopic surgery. As of now it feels fine as long as it don't bend or straighten it fully. The type of biking I do is generaly single track mtb. Thanks for the ideas, any others ones would be appreciated.
