Pistols or motherships

i don't think they can really compair, if you want a noodle of a powder ski get the pistols but if you want a all mt tank that will take it to the mt get the moships Ti's. the moships do have more swing weight and are not as good in the park as the pistols would be due to how stiff they are. i love my moships and would never trade them for another fat ski (except the prophet 130)

Slow down...how tall are you...how much do you weigh....where do you ski....what do you ski (park/all mtn). All these factors will play into your choice. I personnally have 179 Pistols and I'm 6'2'' 180lbs. Pistols are by no means noodles, but they do have a fairly soft flex in the tip, stiffer in the tail. But the softness allows you to ski them in pretty much any terrian. I ski a lot of woods and these things kick ass. They carve well and you can go as fast as you want. I've never skied the mo'ships but a friend of mine has the TI's and he loves them. Does the same type of skiing I do.

I think you can ski the flights pretty much anywhere. There's a guy on here that completely rips up urban rails on them.

yes the pistols are noodles and they aarent very good for park compared to the moships id go with the moships

^ Pocket Rockets are stiffer throughout the entire ski than the Pistols. Believe it or not though flex isn't everything when it comes to stability and control. In fact every K2 currently made short of their race stock are softer than the PR. The Pistol is a fun ski but it's been completely rebuilt from the ground up in order to better compete with the rest of the Big Mountain category. It simply depends on your style though as far as what type of flex is best for you. If you want a smooth stylie ski that is a little underpowered in comparison to it's stiffer comparisons because you're a finesse skier than the current Seth is great at almost everything. Unfortunately for K2 though Armada now makes the best ski of this smoother sub genre... the ARV. It's hands down more stable, smoother, and has more pop so is very park ready even at it's width. If you have a park ski and you're looking for a dominant big mountain ski and you are an expert skier though the Mothership Ti or the Prophet 130 are the two best skis to consider. I have both and they make every other big mountain ski feel asleep at the wheel.

wow. you kids are fucking idiots. i haven't skiied motherships, so therefore i won't talk shit aobu them. but, pistols are softer in the tip and stiffer in the tail. they kill in on groomers, and are sick as fuck in the park. don't talk shit unless you know what the fuck you're talking about. as for motherships, they sound pretty damn sick. i know they are a little stiffer, which is better for hardpack, but it's all personal preference. everything is personal preference. soft/stiff. fat/thin. i say that you should demo both of them.

i think it would be important to first ask the guy who wrote this thread whether he is looking at getting the moship flites or moship ti's...there is a huge difference!

in my opinion, you cant go wrong with pistols. anyone who says they are too soft is silly. i know dudes who are 6'5 250lbs that kill it on 189 pistols on a regular basis. pistols will handle anything you throw at them. they definitely have no top speed that i have ever encountered.

moships are sick skis too, but for completely different type of skiing. the moship ti is a fucking rad ski, but i wouldn't buy it if you don't have something else for everyday use. the ti is sick for big mtn and bc, but not ideal for park or anything like that. the flite on the other hand is another ski ski. fat enough to handle any type of snow, and great in the park. the only drawback to the flite is the loss of stability due to soft flex.

anyway, you need to determine what type of skiing you'll be doing before making this decision. that aside, you've narrowed it down to some sick sticks!

Then you say about the pistols:

your losing me son..... soft=pistols, soft=not as stable of ride, but pistol+soft=stable? (going off your statement about not finding a top speed with the pistols)

i've flexed both, and the flites are stiffer then the pistols and since you have loss stability due to the soft flex of a ski then pistol has less stability then the mothership flite or Ti.


Just go ride both and choose how soft or stiff you want your sticks.

^^i read what i wrote again and it makes sense...you are just silly.

plus, you said "i've flexed them both and the flites are stiffer than pistols." well, my friend, flexing in a store and riding them is much different. the pistols are much more stable laterally than the flites, which gives them a more stable ride overall.

most everyone i know who rides pistols says that their pistols are chattery at high speeds... also i don't get what he means by "when your carving they are fine" like groomers? i find that when i rode the PR's they where most chattery when "carving" on groomers and hard pack at mach10.... i guess when are you not carving when skiiing? and by the way he mentioned nothing about carving in his post where are you pulling this from?

of course any discussion of carving is going to refer to groomers. do you carve in pow very often?? haha

if you lay into your pistols at high speeds, they stay quite stable. it's people with weak legs that allow them to jump around that say they are chattery at high speeds.

i agree the ti's are much more stable, but not the flites. either way, i think we've given the dude enough food for thought to figure it out.

Uhhh... they chatter on ice, yeah. Pistols blow goats on ice. But who the fuck skis pistols in anything that'll make a ski chatter? You can charge the fuck out of pow on the damn things with no reservations whatsoever... what else do you want out of them? They handle on groomers ridiculously well. Sure they're heavy, but they're stable as fuck. I can't believe there has been a whole thread whose purpose was to denigrate one of the best pow ski designs ever.
