i hate this fucking word i see all these fuck'n kids useing it and really it should have no meaning in the skiing world because we are't a main stream sport there won't be alot of kids doing it to be cool it's fucking dumb

ok maybe i was wrong about bring up yet another thread about 'posers' and i do see your point about how skiing doesnt have posers, but theres kid out there that are so caught up in it, everything they do is skiing skiing skiing, and they cant even throw a 360. sorry about my thread pissing you off.

There are kids that this at Shames Mountain.

Me and some friends were lined up to take this jump and this kid comes, jumps, does a 180 and starts going towards the lip of the jump. He didn't have twin tips and we thought he was going to take is switch which was impressive. But at the last moment he turned around but caught an edge and landed right on the lip and rolled off the 2 or so foot drop and lies on the table. It was retarded and it held us up for a long time.

if they suck at it, and wear all this skiing gear and shit, then why don't we say that he or she is a shitty skier, not everybody is gonna go pro, and they still might like the sport just as much as the best skier in the world. Just because they aren't good it doesn't make em a poser, damnit, i wish the word poser never even existed. And what pisses me off more is the people who use the word, it's stupid and has no meaning, it's just an oppinion of what other people think, I would personally rather just here your oppinion then have somebody labelled as a poser.

poser is a dumb word, the only way u could be a poaser for skiing is by getting skies boots poles ect, and wait in the loadge and not actully ski,

i wouldnt really judge someone on how good they are like calling them a poser cause they cant 3. I dont know what it is but you can tell when someone just picked up a sport or hobby or whatever cause it was cool that is what i would call a poser. And it is starting to get a little more popular like more people knowing about it

I hate the word too. I just got into newschool at the end of last season, so I'm not that good yet. But I've been on this site and other skiing sites almost every damn day of the summer, I work my shitty job to save up for skiing equipment exclusively, hardly any money goes to anything else other than alcohol occasionally, and all my friends think I'm weird cause I talk about skiing so much in the middle of summer. Skill has nothing to do with being a poser, only your dedication to the sport.

yeah, i guess people have to start somewhere.. I mean, didnt you guys cut off a few snowboarders or two in the park when you were learning? it takes a while to know the rules, give kids some time to learn them. As for posers, Neil is right.

it depends on who you call a poser. i know a guy who bought brand new teneighties and $400 marker bindings. then he says i suck when i throw switch 5s and railslides, but he cant hit a jump straight and broke his collar bone doing a 180. that is what's defined as a poser.

i didnt read all the replys to this because i am to lazy, but i think it is stupid calling people posers, but i do believe when anyone cuts right in front of you and you actually have to wipeout yourself just because u dont want to hit them is super gay, and when the little kids stand on the jumps and there parents are taking pictures is gay too, the lip always get fucked up.

I suck, and I have decent stuff, but I try hard to get better, so I don't consider myself a poser. I'm good at steeps, pow, and moguls, but absolutely suck at park. I'm not a poser, just not that good.

There has been some great points made. I agree, I hate the word poser. I give props to any body who is out there trying to learn new shit. I had never skied the park till this year. I had been skiing back country for years full on. I ent to the park this year and was disapointed because I am busting my ass and all this other group of skiers did was talk shit. Thats what pisses me off. The people who just cant accept that people are learning. Just give people time and they will understand.

everynody has to start some where. Getting on people's case's for 'fucking up a jump' as some said is stupid. Give them some patients because exactly what some one else already said 'not everyone is born pro' unlike some of you assholes in the park yelling at little kids for 'fucking up the jump' or not being 'core' enough because they have 'rental ski's'. What I think is alot of you are missing the point of skiing really is. Peace

there is a fine line between posers and beginners.

posers are the ones with the newest, most expensive stuff. they talk big when they're on the slopes or the skatepark or whatever, but they truly have no skill. they are posing, which creates the meaning of the word 'poser'. get it?

a beginner doesnt have much skill either, but they dont brag about anything. beginners realise they suck, and hope to get better, they dont make lies to be cool.

I think the people that are posers are the guys that get all decked out and sit in the park everyday and at the end of the year their best trick is still a mute. The kids on the rentals are gonna be the kids who will be buying the twins and taking your jobs in the future

there is another word for those annoying kids who cut you off in the park.. Here in Colorado they are known on a general basis and Texans...

Be aware that there are people out there hitting jumps and rails for the first time. But if there is someone that really does cut you off, keep on riding right be hind them then do either one of two things:

1.go off the jump and land as close to the offender as possible and yell 'watch it'. Chances are the offender has already shitted his pants because that 4 inches of air was way bigger than he expected and someone landing next to him yelling abuse will be a permant reminder not to cut in.

2.Speed up and get as close to the offender as possible, pulling out at the alst moment as yelling abuse while pulling away ie: 'for fuck sake'. The yelling of abuse could probably put the offender off and cause them to misjudge their landing, also once the offender has seen you ski by and can see by your technique, he will see that he has really pissed off someone who is a whole lot better than them which will probably get you an apology. I mean if you cut of vinnie Dorian by accident you would feel like a bit of an asshole once you found out and would probably want to apologize.

I was in the park b4 twin-tips pretty much existed, and even tho it was a bit harder to do tricks on old k2s, i could still manage a few grabs, 3's, and crosses. The snowboarders, would yell get outa the park, and throw snow at you when u would hit the lip. Most of us pbly have been on the verge of a fight between a snowboarder, but the fact is, the guys that were yellin the most, they would just camp at the top of the rail, while there were only 2 or 3 good ones, pullin backflips, and such, the others were just sayin i can do that. The funny thing is that the best snowboarder always seemed to have the most respect for ppl tryin to freeski. We do come from the same mold kinda thing. The only posers 'on' the hill are those, 'i can do that'

Yeah dude,, I remember those days,, coming home from the park with black eyes, and telling your momthat you ran into the lodge door HAH! from fighting with the snowboraders.. Actually at that time I was one of the snowboarders, well off and on, but it sure was a whole lot safer to be in the park as a snowboarder. But now it's easy, all you have to do is go bigger than any of the snowboarders can and you are respected....

I agree we need little kids riding skis and skiboards to keep the sport growing. But 1 thing i do hate about some of the littl kids is they go for the jump and because they dont have enough speed to go past the lip they snow plow up the hit and ride back down totaly ruining the hit. Or they try to take the jump they get enough speed to get past the lip but not enought to hit the landing and crash on the deck. Then u have to wait an hour so the ski patrol cleans up the mess and to find out that they closed the kicker for the rest of the day that pisses me off big time.
But go little ones go !!! :thumbsup:
